EU Adjourns Talks on Chinese Textile Imports

European Union nations adjourned talks on a plan to unblock about 75 million garments held up at EU borders after Chinese textile imports broke 2005 quota limits.
EU Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson said there was broad agreement behind his proposal to release garments imported after the EU and China signed a June trade deal.
The EU executive office needs a majority vote from the trade bloc’s 25 member states to raise import limits amid concern that a flood of cheap Chinese goods undercuts European producers.
Mandelson said talks between the European Commission and EU states would continue through Monday.
