She has fond memories of Inglewood High
Re “Inglewood High Class of 1975: Thrust Together, They Were Divided,” Aug. 28
Reading about my alma mater opened up old wounds for me, but along with my vivid and often painful memories of violence and racial tension are fond remembrances of warm friendships that crossed the racial divide and faculty members of conscience who supported harmony and tolerance on our troubled campus, even when our community as a whole did not.
My four years at Inglewood High School were tumultuous, yes, but they also enriched my life and left an imprint not of resentment or fear but of hope. Hearts can and do change.
I believed that 31 years ago, and I believe it today.
