Iran said it will continue uranium reprocessing despite Europe’s threat to refer it to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions if it does not freeze the work in two weeks.

Uranium reprocessing is part of a chain of steps for making fuel for nuclear power plants or bombs. Iran is engaged in a major dispute with the international community over its nuclear program, which the U.S. says is aimed at building weapons. Iran denies that allegation.

“The era of threats to force Iran to give up its rights is over,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said. “We have said it and say it again, that threat and resorting to two-sided language won’t help.”
