At least 30 Saudi counter-terrorism forces were wounded in two days of fighting with heavily armed suspected Al Qaeda members in the city of Dammam, hospital and police officials said.
On Sunday, two militants died in the fighting, including Zaid Saad Zaid Samari, 31, the kingdom’s No. 3 most-wanted terrorist, said a security official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
Some of the militants fled to a building near Dammam’s commercial district, which police surrounded Monday as fierce gun battles continued.
