Police Raid Ends 3-Day Battle With Militants
Saudi security forces stormed a militant hide-out in the eastern city of Dammam, ending three days of fierce fighting in which security sources said at least six suspects and four policemen were killed.
An Interior Ministry statement said security forces had “cleared and secured” the house in the Persian Gulf coastal city, which is close to some of the nation’s oil installations, and discovered charred human remains inside.
Saudi Arabia has been battling a two-year wave of violence targeting Westerners and security forces.
