City Council Panel Balks at Water Agency Raises
A City Council panel deadlocked Wednesday on raising the salaries of Department of Water and Power workers by at least 17% and as much as 34% over five years.
Councilman Dennis Zine, chairman of the council’s personnel committee, said he could not support a contract that provided annual raises of up to 6% while police officers and others are getting less.
The city attorney ruled the contract could be renegotiated.
