Workers at a U.S. Army airfield in Stuttgart have uncovered a World War II-era grave believed to contain the bodies of 34 Jewish slave laborers used by the Nazis, German authorities said.

The skeletal remains were found Monday, said Ulrich Heffner, a police spokesman.

A police investigator said two or three of the victims may have been alive when buried.
