Mazda Recalls Minivan Because of Exhaust Fires

Share

Mazda Motor Corp. has stopped worldwide production of its 2006 Mazda5 minivan because of exhaust system fires and has recalled 2,700 vehicles already sold in North America.

Mazda’s U.S. dealers also have been told to stop selling the small minivan, which went on sale in June. U.S. owners have reported three fires.

The automaker, with North American headquarters in Irvine, has asked owners to return the vehicles and to expect to be without them for 30 days while the cause of the fires is investigated.
