Men and abortion

Re “Let’s take abortion away from the court,” Opinion, Sept. 23

David Gelernter suggests taking decisions over abortion rights away from the court. I have a better idea. Let’s take decisions over abortion rights away from men, period.

Since men never will need (or have) an abortion, why should they possess the power to decide what women may and may not do with their bodies?

If men ever become capable of getting pregnant, they’ll be entitled to an (informed) opinion on the subject. Until then, the entire subject is abstract theory to them, whereas for women, it’s a very real and personal matter.
