Poland’s conservative Law and Justice Party picked its leading economic policy expert, Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, as its candidate for prime minister after results showed it came in first in Sunday’s election, winning 27%.

Law and Justice and its pro-business ally, the Civic Platform party, crushed the ruling left in the vote and are expected to start talks on forming a government this week.
