U.S. Drops Northrop Mini-Submarine Project

A Northrop Grumman Corp. project, a mini-submarine designed to deliver elite Navy Sea-Air-Land special forces, is being terminated because of high cost. It was more than 25% over budget as of Dec. 31, the Pentagon told Congress.

Two other multibillion-dollar Northrop projects -- the Global Hawk surveillance drone and a weather satellite system -- are more than 25% over budget, the Pentagon said. Northrop is based in Century City.
