From Times Wire Reports
At least 52 people were burned or trampled to death when giant exhibition tents caught fire at a trade fair in northern India, authorities said. An additional 160 were hospitalized.
The blaze occurred at a consumer electronics show in the rural town of Meerut. Authorities said most of the bodies were found near the exits.
“Apparently some people were knocked down and crushed in the stampede as they rushed to get out of the inferno,” a police official said.
