Qualcomm to Settle Antitrust Complaint

Chip maker Qualcomm Inc. has agreed to pay a $1.8-million penalty to settle complaints that it violated antitrust rules in its $600-million purchase of Flarion Technologies Inc., the Justice Department said.

San Diego-based Qualcomm obtained operational control over Flarion despite a waiting period in which the companies were supposed to function independently, the department said.
