Chicago hires two conductors

The Chicago Symphony has named Bernard Haitink and Pierre Boulez to two new conducting positions while it continues its search for a music director to succeed Daniel Barenboim.

Beginning in the 2006-07 season, Haitink will be the orchestra’s principal conductor and Boulez will be conductor emeritus. Barenboim ends his 15-year tenure in June.
