County Counsel Announces Retirement
The county’s top administrative attorney abruptly announced his retirement Thursday in a memo that cited “health concerns and other personal reasons” for leaving after 28 years.
County Counsel Ronald D. Reitz, 58, runs a department that advises and represents county officials on civil matters. His salary will be $193,571 when his retirement officially begins in July, though he will stop working today.
In the last year, the county counsel’s office filed a lawsuit that challenges the state’s medicinal marijuana laws and was involved in litigation regarding flood-control easements.
