Lawmakers Convicted for Zarqawi Remarks

A military court convicted two Islamist lawmakers of instigating sectarian strife by praising Abu Musab Zarqawi as a martyr after his death in a U.S. airstrike in June.
Mohammed Abu Faris was sentenced to two years in prison and Ali Abu Sukar to 1 1/2 years for their “provocative” remarks about the late Al Qaeda in Iraq leader during and after his wake.
A third legislator was acquitted.
