19 Suspects Held in Galicia Forest Fires
Spanish police arrested 19 people suspected of deliberately setting forest fires in the northwestern region of Galicia, the Interior Ministry said.
Detainees include two firefighters and a 73-year-old woman who has been linked to 31 fires in the last three years.
Several fires started from more than one place at the same time, suggesting groups of people were acting together. An Interior Ministry spokeswoman declined to speculate on what the motive might be.
A hundred fires were still burning out of control in Galicia, the Efe news service reported.
