Theaters need to focus on audience

Share

Re “Coming attractions,” editorial, Nov. 29

I don’t know what world The Times lives in, but as a frequent moviegoer, I have not seen any evidence that theater chains are trying to improve the theater experience. Unless I go to the ArcLight, the Bridge or the Grove, I can almost always count on sticky floors, broken seats, horrible picture and sound and lethargic, uninterested employees who don’t attend to these problems.

The problem is not so much the “rude customers” as it is the indifferent theater management, perfectly willing to sell us overpriced popcorn and candy with a smile but unmotivated to make sure the picture is centered, the sound is balanced and the theater is clean.

It’s about time for some new movies. Yes, Hollywood is at a comeback stage, but where are the old classics? We have seen movies for many years that appeal to younger audiences but very few films that appeal to the moviegoer that once was.

Once we have some better films produced. I will be back in the seats, and my money will also contribute to Hollywood’s success.
