Paint on the Makeup, Cue the Waltz

Share

Pronounced “dahnce” by those in the know, ice dancing is the most over-the-top of the four figure skating disciplines. Look for garish costumes, fake smiles, heavy makeup and, in the opener of the three-part competition, enough performances of the Ravensburger Waltz to last a lifetime. Reigning world champions Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov of Russia are favored, but they may be challenged by Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto of the U.S. Elena Grushina and Ruslan Goncharov of Ukraine also are considered medal contenders.
