U.N. Envoy Quits, Citing Junta’s Inflexibility

The U.N. special envoy to Myanmar, Razali Ismail, said he had given up the job, expressing frustration with the country’s military junta for refusing to reconcile with pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Razali said he had decided not to renew his U.N. contract because Myanmar’s ruling junta had kept him out of the country for nearly two years.
