How wise is it to say no to Iran?

Re “Russia Hesitates to Act on Iran,” Jan. 19

Why say yes to Russia, Israel and China and no to Iran? What are the consequences of saying no? How do we know these countries will use nuclear weapons properly?

Iran has been put aside for ages and never given the opportunity to play a key role in global issues. Now it has something Europe needs: resources. Perhaps it is not in Europe’s best interests to thwart Iran. The future lies in natural resources. The Earth is being depleted of existing resources, and new ways of replacing them are being developed. Both the U.S. and Japan have global development strategies. Japan uses key technology to develop its resources. The Prius, Toyota’s hybrid gas-electric car, is an excellent example.

Europe has no global development plan. China depends on Iran for its resources. Russia has so many resources, it doesn’t need Iran. Europe is in between. Hence, it may not be wise to say no to Iran. And perhaps it’s time for Europe to start working on a resource development plan.
