Priest Stabbed in Third Such Attack This Year
A man stabbed a Roman Catholic priest in the Black Sea port of Samsun, a church official said, in the third attack against a Catholic cleric in Turkey since February.
The French priest, Pierre Brunissen, 74, was injured in the hip and leg and taken to a hospital, Msgr. Luigi Padovese, the apostolic vicar for Anatolia, said by telephone from his church in Iskenderun, southern Turkey.
Brunissen’s condition was not life-threatening, Padovese said. Police detained a 47-year-old suspect in the attack, the Anatolia news agency said.
