‘Top Model’ Writers Strike Over Union Bid
Twelve writers on the hit reality show “America’s Next Top Model,” as expected, went on strike, alleging that the show’s producer was hindering their efforts to join the Writers Guild of America, West.
The writers contend that they should get benefits and protections similar to those enjoyed by writers on scripted shows. Anisa Productions Inc. has accused the guild of trying to circumvent secret ballot elections overseen by federal labor officials.
The program, with supermodel Tyra Banks as host, is considered a key part of the fall lineup for the new CW network.
