U.S. Expresses Hope for Reviving Global Talks
President Bush’s top trade negotiator said the U.S. plans to find a way to revive global trade talks that collapsed in acrimony this week.
However, U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab offered no timetable for how long it might take to restart the Doha Round of negotiations being conducted by the 149-nation World Trade Organization.
Schwab said she planned to fly to Brazil today for talks with Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, who represents his country in trade negotiations, to explore ways to revive the talks.
