A coalition soldier died in a land mine explosion, two suicide car bombers killed only themselves in an attack on U.S. forces, and 12 suspected Taliban militants were killed in a raid on their compound, officials said Wednesday.

The soldier from the U.S.-led coalition was killed and three others wounded in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, the military said. Their nationalities were not released.

Three men planned the suicide attack in the southern province of Zabol, but only two were in the vehicle that blew up near a U.S. convoy, a police official said.
