Security Forces Capture Leader of Militant Group

The head of an Islamic militant group blamed for several deadly bombings in Bangladesh surrendered after security forces surrounded his hide-out, officials said.

Sheik Abdur Rahman, leader of the banned militant group Jumatul Mujahedin Bangladesh, gave himself up in Sylhet city, 120 miles northeast of the capital, Dhaka, said government official Faisal Alam.

His organization has been blamed for a wave of deadly bombings across Bangladesh in recent months that killed more than 20 people and wounded dozens.
