Bag Lost by Airline Has a $238,000 Tag
From Times Wire Reports
The Dutch airline KLM has appealed a $238,000 fine imposed by a Philippine court for a passenger’s lost bag, a spokesman for the company said.
The court awarded the damages last month to a man who lost his suitcase eight years ago en route from Manila to Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he was giving a lecture at a World Health Organization conference.
The passenger, identified as Jose Tiongco, argued that his reputation had suffered when he had to stand before his audience wearing jeans, a T-shirt and sneakers.
