Re “Ports Deal Faces Wide Opposition,” March 3

What more will it take for the 38% of Americans who still approve of President Bush’s performance to reconsider? We continue our descent into disaster and outright civil war in Iraq; the Taliban is regaining a foothold in Afghanistan (with Osama bin Laden still making threats); and the much-heralded Medicare prescription drug plan morphs into chaos.

Now we have a “smoking gun” video that demonstrates Bush was clearly warned about the potential aftermath of Hurricane Katrina despite all his denials.

Is it possible that 38% of the poll respondents work for Halliburton or its subsidiaries?
