Lenovo Group Ltd. said it would cut about 1,000 jobs, or 5% of its workforce, to slash costs in its biggest effort yet to reshape the PC unit it bought from IBM.

Lenovo, China’s largest PC maker, said the layoffs were part of a six- to 12-month restructuring plan to save $250 million annually.
