The Things Money Can Buy

Your Spring Fashion Issue showcases Bryce Dallas Howard in a $26,665 evening gown and another dress priced at $12,000 (“The Most Fair,” Feb. 26). This bothers me as a fashion- and budget-conscious consumer. I doubt that the majority of your readers can afford dresses in this price range, and I venture that most of them would choose not to spend that much on clothing even if they could.

Moreover, I am offended as a citizen of the world. I sponsor an African child’s educational, living and health needs for $288 per year. For the cost of these two dresses, 134 other impoverished children could be sponsored for a year. I would appreciate more realistic and responsible fashion reporting in West.
