Illegal Trash Dumpers Will Soon Be Monitored
From Times Staff Reports
To crack down on those who illegally dump trash, the county has been awarded a state grant that will pay for equipment to track such activity.
The grant, about $172,000, will pay for two surveillance cameras and installation of global positioning system equipment in code-enforcement vehicles so dumping sites can be mapped.
The county will chip in $100,000 toward equipment and an education campaign. And an ordinance to stiffen dumping penalties is being drafted.
