L.A.’s poor Latinos, illegal immigration

You editorialize about the plight of L.A.’s poor Latinos (March 19) without referring to the problem of illegal immigrants flooding in ready to take the place of current workers and their opportunities for job income improvements. This is a major problem that affects them the most. The solution can’t be just more and more social welfare benefits.

We have an enormous problem with illegal immigration coming from our southern neighbors, and The Times advocates spending our precious state and federal tax dollars to support a problem that is totally out of control. I view The Times’ position as an invitation for more illegal immigration and, in effect, using our tax dollars to pay our way to becoming a Third World country.
