U.S. Hotel Fined for Booting Cuban Guests

A U.S.-owned hotel that expelled Cuban guests under pressure from the U.S. Treasury Department must pay $112,000 in fines for violating Mexico’s commerce laws banning discrimination on the basis of nationality, the Mexican government said.
The Sheraton Maria Isabel in Mexico City kicked out 16 Cuban officials attending a Feb. 3 meeting with U.S. oil executives after receiving a warning that it was in danger of violating a U.S. trade embargo against Cuba.
