From Times Wire Reports
Two land mine blasts killed four police officers, a soldier and a civilian, the Sri Lankan army said, as Norwegian envoys visited the country to try to salvage its disintegrating cease-fire.
The first blast hit a police patrol in the coastal town of Kattankudi, 140 miles east of the capital, Colombo, said an army spokesman. The second was in northern Jaffna town. Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels also fatally shot a police officer in Batticaloa, 25 miles north of Kattankudi, police said.
