Mexico’s Candidates on Pins, Needles by Proxy
From Times Wire Reports
Mexicans are sticking pins in voodoo-style dolls of presidential candidates to needle them into becoming better public servants.
A Mexican firm is selling dolls representing the main candidates in the July election, along with needles and a guide. You might stick the doll in the left eye to improve transparency in governance, or the heart for honesty.
Creator Alberto Nava said the $13 dolls were called Vuducratas, a mix of the Spanish words for “voodoo” and “bureaucrat.”
