Bomb kills 3 NATO troops in Afghanistan
A roadside bomb ripped through a NATO vehicle Tuesday, killing three soldiers on patrol in a mountainous region of eastern Afghanistan.
NATO said two soldiers were killed in the blast in Nuristan province and two wounded troops were taken to a military medical facility, where one died of his injuries.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization did not release the nationalities of the soldiers, but U.S. troops are the primary NATO component in the area.
The three deaths bring to five the number of coalition troops who have died in Afghanistan in the last week. A NATO soldier died Monday in a battle in Zabol province, and the Defense Department said a U.S. soldier died Friday of noncombat injuries.
At least 87 U.S. troops have died in Afghanistan this year, according to icasualities.org. About 99 U.S. troops died in Afghanistan last year, the site says.
An attacker blew himself up Tuesday outside the Andar district chief’s office in Ghazni province, killing a policeman, an official said.
