Ford delays 3rd-quarter financial statement

Ford Motor Co. delayed filing its third-quarter financial statement, saying it needed more time to review the accounting of interest rate transactions.

The 10-Q report, which was due Thursday, will be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission by Tuesday, the Dearborn, Mich.-based automaker said.

Ford on Oct. 23 posted a preliminary net loss of $5.8 billion for the quarter and said it would restate more than five years of financial results because of the accounting issue.
