A menace of a president

Share

Re “Nigeria’s savior, or not,” editorial, Nov. 11

This editorial was too generous to President Olusegun Obasanjo. Since becoming president of Africa’s most populous nation in 1999, Obasanjo has presided over a disastrous administration. Far from laying the foundation for democracy, he has empowered corrupt elements, led his party in egregious rigging of elections in 2003, done nothing about a spike in political assassinations and displayed disdain for judicial verdicts against his government. He’s a menace all right; the bit about being a savior is more fiction than fact.
