Both sides answer abortion question

Re “Choosing choice,” editorial, Nov. 11

Contrary to the opinion of The Times, abortion foes are not interested in intruding in the private lives of others. Rather, they are against abortion for one reason: to preserve innocent life. Let there be no doubt that if a human fetus could speak, it would express a desire to live rather than face a gruesome death.

Being pro-life is all about the desire to give a voice to those who cannot speak; it is giving a choice to those who cannot choose for themselves. It is the choice of life.

Anti-abortionists should rethink what they are getting themselves into. Banning abortion would come back to haunt them. I would be surprised if there were many rape victims who opposed abortion. If an anti-abortionist’s 13-year-old daughter became pregnant from incest, would he want his daughter to suffer through nine months of sickness and ridicule? I highly doubt it.

I do believe that an abortion must take place in the early months of pregnancy. Other than that, abortion should be kept a private issue. It is a woman’s choice what she wants to do with her body.
