Re “Glitches hit cable switch,” Nov. 11

The Times’ exposure of the shoddy service provided by Time Warner Cable is long overdue. Time Warner’s promises of better service and picture and more choices are overwhelmed by the lack of knowledge of the telephone service staff, picture breakup and a pricing plan that could have been devised only by a former Internal Revenue Service staffer. Getting through to an operator is impossible. E-mailing the website is a waste of time, as there’s no response.

For company spokeswoman Patti Rockenwagner to compare the cable transition to remodeling a kitchen is laughable. At least you can talk to a responsible person when your kitchen is being remodeled to get precise information.

As usual, the cable companies don’t seem to care as long as they have a monopoly in an area. Time Warner Cable service is the dream commercial for the dish companies.

Thank you for publicly exposing Time Warner Cable’s disastrously incompetent takeover of Comcast’s cable service. I knew I wasn’t alone, but it’s some small consolation to see it in print. I have endured days of no Internet service and lost e-mails, and spent countless hours on hold, only to be connected to the wrong department, hung up on or never have the call answered at all, without any offer of compensation of any kind. I will continue to tell everyone I know to avoid Time Warner Cable at all costs.
