From Times Wire Reports

A mental patient who fatally shoved an aspiring screenwriter under a subway train in 1999 pleaded guilty to manslaughter in New York.

Andrew Goldstein, 37, had been found guilty in March 2000 of second-degree murder in the death of Kendra Ann Webdale, but an appeals court overturned the conviction in December 2005 because of errors by the judge. Goldstein entered the guilty plea as both sides were preparing for a retrial.

Justice Carol Berkman said Goldstein would get 23 years in prison at his sentencing next week.
