Taking note of Iraq casualties

Share

Re “Government Fissures Widening,” Oct. 16

I follow the Iraq conflict stories closely, with special attention to the daily American casualties. The Times has been providing daily and monthly totals of U.S. fatalities but appears to be ignoring our cumulative losses.

Readers need to be reminded daily of what the total losses incurred in this worsening war are. Why not provide a box daily, perhaps on Page 1 or the editorial page, with the daily, monthly and cumulative American military losses? This information will help us focus on implementing an alternative plan to “stay the course.”

When the U.S. death toll in Iraq equals that of 9/11, will a national day of mourning be proclaimed?
