Students stage second protest
Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse hundreds of protesting students in the Chilean capital of Santiago and detained nearly 100 people.
University and high school students’ organizations called the demonstration -- the second in a week -- over a new public transportation system that they say shortchanges some working-class neighborhoods. They say it forces people to walk long distances.
The government has acknowledged the failure of the Transantiago system, which forced President Michelle Bachelet to shuffle her Cabinet.
