Council to consider day laborer center
The City Council plans to meet with Home Depot officials this month to discuss building a day laborer center.
Some council members said they want a center built to protect shoppers from being solicited and to make sure laborers can seek employment safely.
Last month, the council voted unanimously to introduce a no-soliciting ordinance. Then, last week, the council voted 3 to 2 to put its decision on hold and send the ordinance back to the city staff.
The council, scheduled to meet with Home Depot officials April 17, is expected to reconsider the ordinance in May.
