From staff and wire reports

Intended as an incubator for fresh talent, late-night programming at KCRW-FM (89.9) is being remodeled to bring in new voices.

Beginning today, Jeremy Sole, Dan Wilcox, Aaron Byrd and Morgan Rhodes will join the public radio station’s post-midnight, pre-dawn schedule. Remaining in the lineup are Eric J. Lawrence, Thomas Golubic, Jason Eldredge and Mathieu Schreyer.

Dropped from the Santa Monica-based outlet were Scott Silva, host of “Connections” on Wednesdays from midnight to 3 a.m.; Kevin Ponthier, host of “Let’s Get Lost” on Thursdays from midnight to 3 a.m.; Tricia Halloran, host of “Brave New World” on Saturdays from midnight to 2 a.m.; and Greg DaPonte, host of “Night Song” on Sundays from midnight to 3 a.m.

Some complained about the short notice they were given about the cancellations.

“This is show business,” Ruth Seymour, the station’s general manager, responded Tuesday. “You don’t give someone notice and then put them in front of a microphone.”
