A club that’s like a spa treatment
Calling all Zen. Hollywood clubbers are turning their attention to Ritual, a new supper club at the former White Lotus location on Cahuenga Boulevard. Ritual offers an exquisite take on simplicity. Owner Chris Breed created the new spot, and it’s akin to getting a spa treatment with your clubbing. Think lots of mood-altering aromatherapy candles, a serene waterfall and former White Lotus chef Andrew Pastore’s California cuisine menu, which is loaded with organic chow. First big hoo-ha is Saturday’s “Night of 1,000 Stars,” a benefit for PETA. . . . West, the new 17th-floor hot spot at the Angeleno Hotel (a former Holiday Inn), has attracted the likes of Ewan McGregor, Rene Russo, Nicollette Sheridan, Will Ferrell and Matthew Broderick.
X-Games mark WeHo nightspot
Bolthouse Productions, in conjunction with daredevil Travis Pastrana and Maxim, hosted an X-Games party last Thursday at Area nightclub in WeHo. Jaime Pressly’s sweetheart, Eric Cubiche, DJ’d, while DJ AM, Samantha Ronson and DJ Homicide from Sugar Ray took a break from the turntables and were spotted on the dance floor. Also in the house were Dave Navarro, Busta Rhymes, Cash Warren, Ian Ziering and Will.i.am. . . . Jupiter Rising is scheduled to perform at the record release party for the fourth compilation in the Standard Hotel’s music series. The event is set for Aug. 19 poolside at the Standard Hollywood.
Going gumless on dance floor
Drum ‘n’ bass fans are bringing the noise at Samuri Sundays at Tokio in Hollywood. . . . Five bucks will get you “Drunk on Stage,” a weekly night of straight comedy on Tuesday nights at Akbar in Silver Lake. . . . DJ Marshall Barnes and Btoll Entertainment just locked down Wednesdays at Opera, the new spot at the old Vynyl in Hollywood. . . . There is some excellent word of mouth on Trifecta, a downtown sports bar and lounge on Hill Street that’s attracting a sweet crowd of urban professionals. And the club’s security won’t be caught slipping. They have a hard-and-fast SOYG (Spit Out Your Gum) policy. It’s a mandate that is sprouting up lately at a lot of venues, including the Fonda and Wiltern theaters. No gum allowed. There’s nothing like ruining your moves while you’re stepping in it.
