Torrential rains in North Korea have forced thousands of families from their homes and left at least 200 people dead or missing, an aid official said.

North Korean officials gave the casualty toll to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, acting delegation head Terje Lysholm said from Pyongyang, the capital. He said 30,000 homes were destroyed and about 247,100 acres of farmland washed away, Lysholm said.
