Re “3 rescue workers killed, 6 injured in Utah mine,” Aug. 17
Compounding the tragedy of the would-be mine rescuers being killed is that all these lives have been lost trying to extract a 19th century energy source. We are at war in the Mideast over an even more dangerous, obsolete energy source. More than any other nation, we have the technology and resources to shift to clean, renewable energy. The reason we do not is that our current government’s concern is not the welfare of its citizens but that of Big Oil and Coal.
