49 victims of Comair crash memorialized
Hundreds gathered to remember the 49 people killed a year ago when a Comair flight crashed shortly after takeoff at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.
The memorial service at a church a few miles from where Flight 5191 crashed and burst into flames Aug. 27, 2006, celebrated the lives of the victims, the efforts of the first responders and the support from countless others.
The names of each of the victims were read as their pictures were displayed on four large screens.
The firefighters, police officers and airport safety officers who rushed to the scene of the crash to try to find survivors all received a standing ovation.
