Let geography be a guide

Re “Redistricting key to term-limit flexibility,” column, Aug. 27

Regardless of who makes up the districting boundaries, whether it be politicians, retired judges or an independent panel, it will always be partisan. A better solution would be for districts to be drawn based on geographical boundaries so that all the people living in the district are represented, not just those of one party. People residing in a geographically defined area -- for instance, the San Fernando Valley -- all have the same concerns about their neighborhoods and infrastructure regardless of which party they belong to. Let them vote for the person they think will best represent their interests regardless of party.
